YEARS OF COMBINED EXPERIENCE

About OEM Remanufacturing

OEM Remanufacturing was established on January 1, 2004 through an amalgamation of two established companies with 86 years of combined experience in remanufacturing. Headhunters Diesel Ltd. started in 1956 and developed a reputation for quality and great service in the remanufacture and repair of engine components. Reliable Engine Company was established in 1966 and similarly developed specialized expertise in the salvage and repair of engine components, with a particular focus on large crankshafts. OEM Remanufacturing merged the specialized technical skills, product knowledge, and market presence of the two organizations to provide customers with an expanded product line and extensive service capabilities. In June 2004, Finning International Inc. announced that it was investing $65 million in OEM Remanufacturing to create a new world-class remanufacturing facility. OEM Remanufacturing has since grown to become a fully-integrated and best-in-class Caterpillar dealer component remanufacturing center.

A Modern, Lean Remanufacturing Facility:

OEM’s 310,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility offers all the advantages of a Lean manufacturing process, with the flexibility to provide customized repair solutions. Engine and powertrain components flow through the facility in a straight line with little unnecessary handling, allowing employees to provide timely and efficient service.

At 880 feet long and 440 feet wide at its widest point, engineers designed OEM Reman’s facility for flexibility. Work cells can be created to accommodate exacting work on the smallest components and the largest engines.

Cleanliness is critical in the remanufacturing process. Without effective safeguards, dust and dirt can easily contaminate engines or filters and enter the lubrication system, resulting in early product failure. OEM Remanufacturing teams work within a bright, clean environment designed to meet Caterpillar’s strictest contamination control standards. The pressurized, air-conditioned building has an air-curtain system on all external doors ensuring that dust and other airborne particles do not enter the building. The facility also has an air filtration system that eliminates the smallest of particulates. OEM Remanufacturing’s facility was designed to keep dirty and clean operations separate. Components enter a pre-cleaning area prior to disassembly and all parts are washed thoroughly after disassembly. To further reduce the risk of contamination to sensitive equipment, small component operations is located in a unique room-within-a-room.
